    • @QuitNowBC

      Hi Ghufraan chishti, nicotine gum does not usually give a nicotine buzz . It's designed to slowly release nicotine over the course of about an hour, to help reduce cravings. We recommend talking to your pharmacist or to a Quit Coach at 1-877-455-2233 if you have questions on using the gum or other quit aids. :)

      Hi Dame Deci, Gum should be chewed slowly until a peppery or minty taste emerges, then parked between cheek and gum for one minute to allow for release of nicotine. Continue for 30 minutes or until taste dissipates. Swallow saliva like normal, but do not swallow the gum.

    Every time I would chew the gum after eating I would get really sick for about an hour. If I chewed it on a full stomach I would get extremely sick and throw up a bunch of times. I never had that problem with the nicorette inhaler though.

    • @GoatzombieBubba

    Doesn't sound right to me why would u call them oral if the drug is absorbed in ur stomach? Also why no just have a pill then? I assumed the gum and sucker nicotine was absorbed either sublingual/under the tongue or buccal/gums like dip or how every chew is absorbed. I've used dip and it takes a min or so to feel the effects. Also the inhaler goes to the lungs so wouldn't call that oral either.

    • @delightful5165
      @delightful5165 6 років тому

      Oral refers to the route of administration not the site of absorption

  • @cbrela1

    Is the inhaler any different than the e-cigarettes/vaporizers? I would imagine if the inhaler is sold at the pharmacy it will be much more expensive and if the goal NR it shouldn't matter if the inhaler works diff than e-cig right? That is assuming inhaling is doesn't have major negative health affects. I do have a question about delivery; I know diff delivery changes how fast effects come on and how much is absorbed inhaling is of course the fastest compared to then would be gum(buccal or is it sublingual) then patch(dunno medical term). Should I choose what NRT product based on the delivery? I have a friend that uses dip(which is shredded tobacco placed between gums and cheek and is different than chew which u actually chewed) and when ever he gives me some I def get a buzz/high from it and don't if I ever chain smoking like 3 or 4 in a row also I smoke a pack a day. Will I get a buzz from any of the NRT and if so isn't that counterproductive? Sorry if confusing I'm not sober at the moment

    • @fortunecookiesmiles
      @fortunecookiesmiles 9 років тому

      Is the inhaler any different than the e-cigarettes/vaporizers? The inhaler is actually very different from an e-cigarette. The inhaler contains “clean nicotine” that is vaporized and absorbed along your oral mucosa. When you smoke a cigarette, the nicotine comes from burning tobacco. The nicotine in cigarettes is absorbed across the epithelium in your lungs. When you say “major negative health effects,” you should be aware that what’s in cigarettes that causes cancer, COPD, and other diseases isn’t the nicotine itself, it’s actually the carcinogens in the smoke aka the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Like the inhaler, e-cigarettes don’t involve the combustion of tobacco. However, e-cigarettes are not proven to be a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes. In an e-cigarette, there is a cartridge containing a liquid solution. In addition to nicotine, this cartridge contains propylene glycol, glycerin, and some cartridges even contain known carcinogens. The manufacture of these cartridges is much less tightly regulated than that of the inhalers. Granted, e-cigarettes are probably safer to use than smoking regular cigarettes, but if you are interested in quitting for good, I wouldn’t recommend them. They have not been proven as an effective smoking cessation aid in scientific studies. I do have a question about delivery; I know diff delivery changes how fast effects come on and how much is absorbed inhaling is of course the fastest compared to then would be gum(buccal or is it sublingual) then patch(dunno medical term). Should I choose what NRT product based on the delivery? You can actually use a combination of nicotine replacement therapies at the same time. I don’t know exactly how much you smoke but that does play a factor in what therapy could be right for you. If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day, I would recommend starting off with the 21 mg patch and use the gum or lozenge as needed to supplement your cravings. If you are only interested in using the gum or lozenge, I would recommend dosing based on when you have your first cigarette in the morning. If you have your first cigarette less than 30 minutes before you wake up, choose a 4 mg package and for the first 6 weeks use one piece every 1 to 2 hours. Will I get a buzz from any of the NRT and if so isn't that counterproductive? Many patients share this concern. The “buzz” that you get from NRT’s is very different from the buzz that you get when smoking a cigarette. When you smoke a cigarette, the nicotine actually reaches your brain in 11 seconds. Nicotine replacement therapy helps patients quit because it eliminates that immediate reinforcement that you get from smoking a cigarette. The NRT simply gives you a slow steady release that helps reduce the withdrawal symptoms that you get from smoking. Side note: I noticed that you are concerned about the costs associated with NRT products. May I suggest speaking with your doctor? Many insurance plans actually cover NRT therapy.

    • @VJSleight
      @VJSleight 8 років тому

      +CBreeze The inhaler is by prescription only, so insurance covers the costs, so it would be cheaper. It is absorbed faster than either the gum or lozenge. It is different than e-cigarettes, in that the nicotine is mainly absorbed in the mouth and throat. None of the medicinal nicotine products are designed to give you a buzz.

    Are you saying I'm an idiot because I don't know all the "healthiest" way to consume heroin. Think about what the hell you are saying. You must be a crack head or something. 97% of all people who quit smoking nicotine for good quit cold turkey. I know what I'm talking about so go spill your nonsense onto someone who hasn't been through this already.

  • @issabela132
    @issabela132 12 років тому

    oh shut up @sacredsocietyAP. honestly you don't quit cold turkey it's really bad emotionally and physically for you. in fact if you were to stop cold turkey and take some "pills" ur doing so much harm to your body. instead, the patch starts you out on a dose and then over time you lower the dose until you no longer need any nicotine. I as a smoker, strongly disagree with your "it's easier than you know". comment.
